Postdoctoral Research Positions in Information Theory and Coding

Postdoctoral research positions in the broad areas of information theory and coding are available within the Information Theory and Coding group of the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra Barcelona.

Specific topics of interest include (but not restricted to) reliable communication with uncertainty, sub-optimal decoding, universal decoding, hypothesis testing, finite-length information theory, design of optimal codes as well as related source-coding problems. The research is funded by the European Research Council and the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness in collaboration with the Univeristy of Cambridge. Opportunities to visit the University of Cambridge will be available.

The positions are available from September 2017 or later, for an initial period of two years and may be renewable. Applicants should hold a PhD in either electrical engineering, computer science, or mathematics, and are expected to have a strong background in information theory, coding theory or closely related areas.

Remuneration is highly competitive and commensurate with skills and experience. Informal queries can be addressed to Prof. Albert Guillén i Fàbregas (guillen [at] ieee [dot] org). In order to apply, please send your CV along with a short statement of research interests to Prof. Albert Guillén i Fàbregas (guillen [at] ieee [dot] org).
